| Bio: | hello. my name is cathy... but you can call me catsy, since that's how the canadiens pronounce it. i'm a second year student at simon fraser university, majoring in communications and minoring in publishing. i plan on becoming a children's writer and publishing my own books, but we'll see how that turns out. i'm asian. 100% chinese; born in the philippines; raised in vancouver, bc, canada. if you need a physical description, you need to get out more. since i don't dye my hair or wear coloured contacts, that should be description enough. my interests are pretty much laid out in that list down there, but i guess i can elaborate. i just started taking bellydancing lessons a few months ago. i used to be into it. now i'm growing out of it. story of my life. the same thing happened with the guitar a couple of months ago. i like books, especially children's literature and fantasy novels, my fave authors being louis sachar, tamora pierce, and terry goodkind. i especially like novels like ella enchanted which are referred to as fractured fairytales (basically retold fairytales with a twist). note i said that i like the novel, NOT the movie, since the movie, while i have not myself yet seen it, looks like crap and is nothing like the book. in terms of movies, i love twist endings. identity, the usual suspects, the shawshank redemption, memento, and the list goes on... rank right up there. if anyone wants to recommend me a good twist ending movie, you'd be in my good books. i also like movies with sports/action in them (re. mighty ducks). i don't care how many people will laugh at that, since that's probably my fave movie trilogy ever. heck, it's even on my name tag (D2: The Mighty Ducks) since i work at a theatre. anything with good martial arts or dancing in it is also sure to entertain me. i'm not too picky, but i can't stand any movies created before the 90s. nothing against the movies themselves, but the quality of anything older turns me off, although when remastered, i'm fine with them. music: i like pretty much anything, although i'm more into rock and alternative nowadays. i have also recently gotten into disco for some reason. burn baby burn. i like art. i used to be creative, but now i'm just a bum who isn't really motivated to create much of anything. i've had my own art exhibit, encompassing my favourite themes: optical illusions, hidden images, CANADIAN pride, and wordplay. i love optical illusions of all kinds, especially those by giuseppe archimbaldo and octavio ocampo. in my opinion, they are the fucking kings of optical illusions, at least of the kind that juxtapose two images in one, and i've seen a heck of a lot of illusions. if you've never seen anything by them, you should check em out. guaranteed to please. i used to be a huge american idol fan. however, it's really starting to get old for me. i'm a clay fan all the way, although i have to admit that american idol 3's contestants were far better than those of the first two. i think that la toya should have won. or at least diana. meh. nowadays, i am really into canadian idol, and am rooting jacob hoggard on, even moreso now that he's the only bc representative. his band is pretty good, you should check em out: hedleyband.com i like to sing. singing makes me happy. i like singing in choirs, small groups, and christmas carolling, but you'll probably never catch me singing alone, as alas, my self-confidence can be compared to this: . <-- it's that small. half of my journal is friends only. anyways, that pretty much sums me up. c'est tout. btw... if you're on the low carb diet, or even considering it, read this and hopefully it convince you to get off it, cuz it's not healthy at all. and you get to read a sample of my writing. =) | |||||
